HIGH
Markets, meet culture.

01 — The problem
Finance had become comfortable
For years, fintech had settled into a familiar formula.
Dense interfaces. Serious language. Small differences in pricing fighting for attention while the actual product experience stayed largely the same.
We wanted to break out of that comfort. HIGH started with a simple ambition: make investing feel like a product people actually want to open.
Not finance made louder. Not finance dressed up for Gen Z.
A genuinely good financial product with a point of view.

02 — Direction
Start outside the interface
I didn't want us to begin with UI references. That felt too easy. We'd end up borrowing the same visual language the category had already settled into.
Instead, I gave the team room to look elsewhere. We explored art direction, fashion, editorial, photography, culture and visual worlds that had little to do with fintech.
We refined those directions until we found something that could stretch across a product this broad without losing its character.
The visual language came before the interface.

03 — The world
Build the world first
I deliberately reversed the usual order.
Instead of starting with components and building a design system around them, we created the expressive assets first. Cards. Graphics. Illustrations. Market moments. Brand elements.
Then we asked: how should the interface behave around this world? That gave us a system that felt designed rather than assembled.
The system followed the expression, not the other way around.

04 — The product
Make finance feel alive
The challenge was never just making screens prettier.
HIGH needed to bring personality into a product that still had to handle serious financial work: market discovery, stock research, order flows, portfolios, F&O, ETFs, IPOs, alerts and more.
So we rethought familiar surfaces. A portfolio could feel like something you own, not another spreadsheet. A watchlist could feel like something you return to. Market updates could have a voice. Small interactions could carry character without getting in the way.
The product had to feel alive, not distracting.

05 — Restraint
Personality has a limit
The easiest way to make fintech feel young is to make everything loud. We didn't.
HIGH needed to feel culturally aware without becoming a caricature of Gen Z. The tone could be playful, but money still needed clarity. Personality could appear in the right moments, then step aside when the decision became serious.
That balance became one of the most important design constraints.
Playful around the money. Serious about the money.

06 — Scale
Designing at product scale
As HIGH grew, so did the surface area.
Stocks, ETFs, IPOs, F&O, watchlists, screeners, news, market discovery, SIPs, portfolios, alerts, social layers, collectibles and more all had to feel like parts of the same product.
Every feature needed its own thinking. What deserves attention? What should disappear? Where does personality help? Where does it get in the way?
A lot of the craft was in answering those questions without losing the larger character of HIGH.

07 — The team
Keeping the team on one wavelength
The product was built by a team, not a single designer.
One of my biggest responsibilities was keeping the creative bar high while leaving enough room for individual expression.
There were plenty of iterations, changing directions and moments where the energy of the team naturally rose and fell. The job was to keep bringing everyone back to the same ambition without making everyone design the same way.
Alignment without uniformity.
That became one of the most valuable parts of the project for me.
08 — The brand
One character, everywhere
HIGH was never meant to be just an app.
The same point of view extended into campaigns, social content, onboarding, product copy, market moments and the wider brand world.
The goal was simple:
Different surfaces. One character.

The result
HIGH is a serious investing product that doesn't feel like it was designed in a finance department.
It brings markets, technology and culture into the same experience without asking any of them to disappear.
Not finance pretending to be cool.
Just finance, done differently.
